Dadgummit! Dadgummit! Dadgummit!

Late last week, my daughter came down with bronchitis.  Our family CRNP listened to Kareema's symptoms and prescribed a 5-day antibiotic regime, which, in the past, has always worked licketty-split to knock out infections such as this.  (Kareema is prone to bronchitis, every year about this time.)  On Friday, after there was no improvement, our doctor asked how soon could she get to urgent care.  I waited out side for her.

Doc did a covid swab and told daughter to finish the antibiotic.  She (doc) would call as soon as the test results were in, in 3-5 days.  Doc called today; daughter tested positive for Covid.  I could hear her ask Kareema how I was doing.  I had a cold, with low-grade fever, started Saturday night, but nothing else.  Doc wanted me to stop by for a swab right away.

I knew it was only a head cold.

I was wrong.

Dadgummit!

We thought we were safe because we diligently followed the CDC protocols.  For the most part, we were...until we weren't.

We will continue to follow CDC guidelines.  Donovan, who is in a tech school, will not be allowed near us for two weeks.  He planned to come home for ten days, but cannot now. We all are disappointed but realized it's better if he doesn't.

My "cold" started Saturday afternoon, so, technically, I am now Day Three into this new adventure.

I wish you all a Covid-free holiday season, on through to the end of this mess.

Bless you all!

Martha

So sorry, Crow. I wonder where you contracted it? I managed to contract mine when I went into hospital after a heart attack (steer clear of hospitals, people die in them!) then went home and infected my wife.

Hopefully yours will develop like ours. It was a very mild attack and neither of us had raised temperatures, just felt very "fluey" for about a month and I had morning sickness (and no, I was not pregnant)for a couple of weeks.

Shall be thinking of you. Keep us updated.

Dadgummit, times a million!!!
I am so sorry you and Kareema got The Thing, Martha.
Aaargh!
And Donovan can't come home for Christmas.
Sad, but smart.

On another note, I am glad to hear he's at tech school!
Studying computers?

I hope you & K will be well enough to have something of a happy Christma anyway... or, for sure, a Happy New Year---count down to Inauguration!!!
Here's hoping...

Sending love and best wishes for a quick turn-around.
(I'll just add, it's nice to see you here, despite the terrible news.)
XO Fresca

This Covid is so mysterious. Symptoms are all over the place and vary so much in intensity. I am so sorry. Drink lots of fluids and keep an upbeat attitude. You will be better by New Year's. Do they do any tracing in your area so that you might know where you caught it?

If you can, get a pulse oximeter, they are not too expensive, and some pharmacies have them. Monitor your symptoms, if you're short of breath walking across the room head for the best medical center within reach. Please let me know how you are faring. My thoughts are with you.

Avus:

Turns out I hadn't lost or misplaced your comment after all. It was hung up in the new (to me) Blogger comment corral.

I think this is going to be short-term...I hope. My temp is back to normal, has been since early this morning.

Thank you for for your response, and I'm very glad you and Mrs. Avus are doing better.

Martha, we are well and looking forward to a quiet Christmas together. Looking forward to our 'jabs' by the early springtime. Until then it's a question of staying warm, socially distanced, and masked up. Wishing you all the best of health.

I cry out on behalf of US citizenry - especially its women.

In the most technically advanced country on the globe the response to the pandemic is on a par with that expected from two fellaheen on the fringe of the Sahara in the company of a donkey with a broken leg. That a so-called "leader" could ignore what amounts to a hundred machine-guns firing into a crowded mall - endlessly filled and re-filled - simply to pursue his lying fantasies is beyond all comprehension. And some bloodied bodies belonged to those who voted for him and apparently believed him right up to the moment the bullets cut them in two.

Dear Crow, your post has a stoic tone of voice but I can't say I approve. Rage seems to be the only reaction. I had my jab on Tuesday and am presently living on a wretched offshore island, supported only by pretensions. Two women from the USA have contacted me: one must wait until January 25 for her jab, the other (as old as me and with an underlying condition) has no date in mind.

Once I only wanted the Orange Buffoon to be humiliated. Now I dwell on darker destinies.

My sweet sorrow for you both. The chances are you'll pull through, most do. But being scared isn't a heathy pastime. Cheers.
