WHAT?!??

Okay, so I finished posting the previous bit about Cricket and thought I'd check the headlines on MSNBC before going to bed, now that it's nice and quiet in the house again, and my heart stopped when I read this one.

Really, people?!? You honestly think I'm going to go outside and look upward for this?!

I don't bloody well think so, dudes! I'm headed for the basement. Look out, crickets!

More likely, it'll hit me as I step out this morning. Or the car. I don't carry satellite insurance on the car. I thought of hanging a net out the window, but I'm not so sure that's really work. Maybe a casting net would be better, but I'd need to be standing up on the atmosphere, and not even my feet are that big.

This is a song I've sung since I was tiny.

Just for one heart-stopping moment and because (I must insist) you missed out an indefinite article, I thought you were going to post about the strange game England invented so that ex-colonials could later employ it to thrash us. It wasn't to be, but I live in hopes. Perhaps some rainy Sunday in the future.

Actually, much of the fun has gone out of the game since we're now thrashing the ex-cols. India, previously No. 1 in the world, beaten 4 - 0. Aussies too, a couple of months earlier. The are always literary possibilities about getting your ass kicked, never about doing the kicking.

nice song! better than a large chunk of falling unknown!
i loved the post on the cricket.... my fist encounter with a cricket was when i moved to the prairies from the east coast of canada ( where i had never seen or heard a cricket). i heard this loud whirring noise at twilight..... and the kids i was coaching told me it was crickets and that they make the sound by rubbing their legs together. i expected a huge beast out back grinding his legs..... not the reality of thousands of tiny crickets grinding their legs all at once.
nice posts.
